1. What is 3D printing?

3D printing is a revolutionary technology that brings digital designs to life by creating physical objects layer by layer. It offers a wide range of applications, from prototypes to custom-designed items.

2. What services does Imprint3D NZ offer?

Imprint3D NZ specializes in CAD design and bespoke 3D printing services. Our expertise covers personalized items, prototypes, functional parts, and more. We assist in designing 3D models and transform them into high-quality physical objects.

3. Can you help me design my idea?

Absolutely! We offer comprehensive design assistance. Our team collaborates with you to create detailed 3D models tailored to your vision, ensuring your ideas are translated into precise, tangible items.

4. What kind of materials do you use for 3D printing?

We work with various materials but mainly PLA and PETG, other materials can be sourced for specific projects. The choice depends on the specific requirements of your project. Material selection is crucial, as it affects the item’s properties and functionality. We will also do our best to provide the right material in the colour requested however we are sometimes limited to what the material manufacturer has available.

5. How long does the 3D printing process take?

Printing times vary based on complexity and size. Simple items might take a few hours, while intricate designs can take several days. Additionally, shipping times within New Zealand depend on your location. Design time will vary depending on the complexity of the model required.

6. How much does shipping cost and how is it calculated?

Shipping costs within New Zealand are determined by the size and weight of the item. As bespoke items vary in dimensions, the shipping cost will be calculated based on these factors. We will choose the best price from the couriers available at the time of order. We currently only ship to NZ addresses.

7. Can I pick up my items?

Unfortunately we do not offer pick-ups for your items. All items will be shipped to you through the best shipping option at the time of purchase.

8. How does pricing work for bespoke projects?

Due to our highly custom and personalised approach, we provide individualised quotes tailored to each project. Once we understand your requirements, we’ll provide you with a detailed, personalised quote outlining the costs involved.

9. Why don’t you have an e-commerce shop?

Having an e-commerce store is great for off-the-shelf items, but it doesn’t work so well for custom jobs. We work with you to tailor the perfect solution and a quote will be generated and emailed through to you. This will cover all the details of your order for you to review before making payment. This way you ensure everything is as you want before we start to produce your item.

10. Why can I see layer lines or slight imperfections on my 3D print?

Witnessing faint layer lines or subtle imperfections on your 3D print is a common aspect of the additive manufacturing process. These nuances arise due to the layer-by-layer construction technique inherent in 3D printing. Despite these minor irregularities, it’s crucial to understand that these imperfections don’t compromise the structural integrity or functionality of the printed object.

However, it’s essential to recognize that 3D printing, with its unique layering method, might not offer the same surface perfection as an injection-molded part. While we strive for high-quality results, the textured finish is inherent to 3D printing and sets it apart from traditional manufacturing techniques like injection molding. Rest assured, your 3D print is optimized for robustness and functionality, even with these subtle surface variations.

11. Can I get a refund for my custom-printed items?

At Imprint3D NZ, we take immense pride in our personalized approach, crafting bespoke items tailored specifically to your vision. Due to the unique and individual nature of the items we create, we regretfully cannot offer refunds on custom-printed orders. Every piece we produce is designed and manufactured to meet your specific requirements, making it challenging to resell or reuse for other clients.
